While we were staying at Teds parents we got to have more time with them to ourselves. Usually when we get together it's with the whole family. (which is wonderful too) But it was great going out to dinner, movies, and some really fun outings with just Grandma and Grandpa. One Sunday afternoon we decided to load up the truck, pack a lunch and head to a park up Provo Canyon. I had never been to this park before. I didn't even know it was there because it's the last park up the canyon, you have to get off the main road and drive up a different canyon road. This park has a huge grass field and what looked like some really nice hiking trails. I was wearing flip flops so we decided to come back and hike the trails another time. The kids especially loved the little stream running along the west side of the park. It was shallow enough that I didn't have to worry about them getting pulled under the current. Daesha turned over every rock she could looking for any living creatures. She found a few rock rollers, some frog eggs, and a water snake! She managed to scrape the fish eggs off the bottom of a rock and put them in her sand bucket with some river dirt and water. That bucket sat on the kitchen counter for weeks in hopes they would hatch. Sadly they never did so they got dumped down the kitchen sick.
Grandpa and Ted took a nap on the grass, while Keegan rode... no, careened his bike down the big hill over and over. It was such a nice day in the canyon that we stayed there for 4 hours. On the way home Grandpa got us all slushies at Sonic Drive In.
Grandma got the HUGE marshmallows to roast. They were good off the stick but way too much mallow for a Smore.
