Anyway, it all started Thursday night when Ted told me he really wanted to go camping. So the very next day right after work we loaded up the Suburban and headed up Fairview canyon. We found a great spot within walking distance to the lake. It was great until we went to bed and the ducks quacked ALL night long. And isn't there a poem called Don't Sheep Sleep?? I don't think they do because they were across the canyon baaing all night too!
But it is a beautiful place....
The next morning, we all were awake at dawn. He sat in the tent waiting for the sun to warm us up before starting breakfast. Ted cooked some pancakes and bacon. Then we headed down to the lake to do some fishing. Daesha had the touch that day, but has the worst cast. (could be due to the fact that she is using her Dad's ice fishing pole because last time she fished she accidentally threw her pole in the lake) She caught 7 fish. Kids are only supposed to get 4 but Keegan didn't get his max so Daesha did it for him. Keegan got his first and only fish that day. A major step since he doesn't like it when the fish is flipping all over once it's out of the water. But amazingly he touched the fish and took out the hook with the grabby thingy. (can you tell I don't know fishing equipment names.)
Keegan has the best cast. He holds it with both hands to his right side. Then swings it; letting go with his right hand and keeping it in his left. He could cast it as far as his Dad!!!!
Daesha practiced her cast first this time with a rubber pink fish for weight. She was very determined to hold on tight. Which made for a horrible cast. She had some trouble getting it out far.
Daesha looks forward to fishing for this one thing... WORMS!!!!!
Her first fish of the day! Notice she ditched the ice pole and is using her Dads fishing pole.
Showing off her 4th fish. Nobody else has a fish yet!
Keegans fish... here he is getting the hook out.
Our camp site.
Keegan hanging out in the tent, playing games on my Kindle.
Daesha cooked us fish for lunch. She was disappointed that I'd forgot some salt or any other seasoning for the fish. I had brought sandwiches for lunch. Daesha thought I didn't think this trip out. She said, "We were going on a fishing campout...." She left her sentence hanging for me to figure out on my own how this sentence should end. :) They were still really good.
Here is the craziest thing. Seriously the CRRRAAAZZZIEST!
Daesha likes to eat the skin. Scales and even the tail!!!!!
Crazy girl!
All that is left.... not much. Don't worry nobody ate the head. Our dog did!
Keegan has serious balancing skills with things on his head. He was walking around and the stick never fell off.
By 4 o'clock we had a bit too much sun. The sun drained all our energy. Daesha was so tired she didn't take her drink out of her mouth before falling asleep!
Everyone had a great time. I can't wait to head back to the mountains soon....
