Still Providing For His Family..

I am so lucky that Ted has a special love and talent for hunting and fishing. No really I am! If things get too bad you will most likely find us living in the deep woods. Ted is the all american boy scout. We could live quiet happy in a twig and gravel hut, eating meat, grains, berries, mushrooms, and what ever else is ok to eat because Ted knows exactly what is alright to eat. Ted has been teaching the kids all one should know about nature since the day they are born. Daesha knows the names of several trees and flowers. I had to add to the tree knowledge by pointing out a cherry blossom. Ya! I bet your Dad didn't know that one. Just a few days ago I found Ted reading one of his outdoor magazines to Daesha titled, "Scat is were it's at. Who's poo is whose". Very informative... about forest animal poo and how to tell them apart and even knowing what that animal eats by what's in the poo. I was glad that he said we never touch the poo. It could carry disease. We just poke it with a stick. :-S
Anyway, back to Ted being a very manly man and bringing home food for his family...

The fishing hole in Spanish Fork

Daesha holding the first catch of the day.

Daesha playing with the worms we used for bait.

We started catching fish like crazy. We had a fish nearly every cast! Daesha became tired after the 20th fish.

Daesha pretending to eat a worm. Yuck!

This small mouth bass had Ted out in the water. He was a fighter! Almost too big to keep. But with the vote of other fishermen around us we decided not to throw it back.

Keegan and his dad. Keegan did not want to get close to the fish. He laughed watching Ted and Daesha real them in but as soon as it would get on land he would scream.

All our fish! A total of 31 white bass, and 3 small mouth bass.

Easter Weekend Fun

Saturday before Easter we always get together with Ted's family. We have a BBQ and easter egg hunt for the kids. This year my Sister in law had the adults play a game. It was called the "Coke Challenge". She had 8 small cups with various cola's. We had to taste each cup and guess which one was which. The ones she had us taste were regular coke, diet coke, coke with lime, caffiene free coke, coke zero, pepsi, Diet pepsi and sugar free pepsi. It was alot harder than I thought it would be. I only got 1 right. (coke with lime) My sister in law Pam got 4 right. She was the winner! Ted made a new toy this last week. Some might be surprised that it did not have any sort of explosive. But it did send easter eggs soaring through the air. The older boys had fun hitting the hard boiled eggs with tennis rackets and baseball bats. My nephew Hunter came inside after the rest of us and we saw that he had pieces of egg in his hair and a raw egg all over the front of him. I didnt have to witness that to know Ted had something to do with the raw egg. Ted is so mean!! But it was still pretty funny. I wish I had more pictures but my battery died on my camera. As soon as my sister in law Debbi blogs this I will refer you all to her blog. She always gets great pictures.

First Personal Touch

I promised Ted that I would not start to decorate or paint the inside of our house until the yard is in this summer. It's killing me!! But I had to do one small thing that drove me crazy. Some might say this is a silly thing to blog. And even a silly thing to want to fix. But I am pleased with the result of the first "improvement" on the inside of the house.

Upstairs there is a laundry shoot that was stuck right on the wall. It was painted the same color as the wall. And for some reason it really bothered me. It was just there.

So what I did was I had another door made of MDF. Painted both doors black and then nailed a piece of sheet metal to the front. Then I put vinyl words on each one (thanks Julie). For a final touch I screwed the steel decorative scrolls to the top and tied black polkadot ribbon. The top one hangs on the wall just like you would hang a picture. And the bottom one is the laundry shoot.
