Big milestone for Keegan

Keegan is so close to taking his first steps. He is able to stand up all by himself. He loves us to cheer him on. We are just waiting for him to actually take a step. This video was taken after we moved all our stuff out of the room so that the carpets could get cleaned. The kids thought it was pretty fun to run and roll around the open space. Lately Keegan can be seen carrying the fly swatter around, I think it's his new favorite toy.

I want to do something fun..

Today Daesha told me she wanted to do something fun. I said ok do you want to go to the pool? No I want to go to the mall. I thought she really doesn't want to do that. Four year olds dont go to the mall for fun. I swear it sounds like we live at the mall. We really dont! Just lately the mall comes up alot. Anyway, I called my sister. She said she was going to the mall with her girls, Ok I guess today is a mall day. So we all went to the mall. We let the kids ride the carousel. Daesha loves to ride the dragon. I got a cute picture of her flying on her dragon. This next bit has to come with a little history so bear with me. Daesha has been asking about peircing her ears for a couple months. Ted and I have just tried to dodge the whole thing. When we adopted her her birthmom wanted to know how soon we'd be piercing her ears. Ted and I (especially Ted)was sure that wont be happening any time soon. Since then we have learned more about "african americans." We have noticed this must be a cultural thing. We have been asked by other blacks why her ears aren't pierced. Our reply was simply that we were giving that decision to her when she was old enough to want her ears pierced. She was asking but I couldn't bring myself to it. I had no real reason why other than I didn't want my little girl to grow up so fast. A few weeks ago when Daesha had asked again I told her horror stories. It was all I could think of!!! I told her it hurt really bad. Worse than a shot. She seemed to not like that very much so I knew it wouldn't come up again for many years. Today it did. A nice girl at the jewelery store loved Daesha and Keegan and wanted to give them a sucker. She went over to the area were they sit you in the high chair to pierce your ears. Daesha wanted to sit in the chair. I told her what it was for. In thought she would jump right down, remembering what I had told her. My plan backfired! She wanted her ears pierced right then. I reminded her that it really hurts and she insisted. Daesha worked the crowd and asked the girl if she would pierce her ears. Soon everyone was in on the great plan. She was so excited about the whole idea and then the sample earrings came out and that was the deal breaker. Daesha was really funny and totally excited. Here is the picture of her before. And here she is after. She cried for about 30 seconds and then she was ok. The cutest was Daesha's cousin Tiffany. My sister has a rule in her house. You must be eight to pierce your ears. Tiffany's birthday is in two months. She kept asking her mom if she could do it too. My sister has 6 kids she has more experience saying no than I do. But as Tiffany sat and watched and Daesha started to cry she burst out in tears too! I wish I had that on video. As soon as we got home Daesha was running to her friends house to show them what she did today. She said she will never pierce her ears again. I said that is good you will never get another piercing again. (anywhere) This video is so sad it just makes me want to hug her. But I thought I really wanted this on film. Her hair was really ugly today too. Wasn't expecting it to be such a big day.

More news from Ted downunder

Yesterday we were all in a meeting and the guy leading the meeting got up and said with a straight face, "We will have tea and lunch and then afternoon tea with nibblies." I had a hard time containing myself. Nibblies is such a tough word for a driller. Then the day gets better the next presenter got up and his screen saver had a photo of him with this big grin and a koala bear snuggled up to his face,(ahh how cute) The funny thing is that they looked like father and son....

Last night we went out for a company sponsored meal We went to some stake restaurant we get our order and then oyster show up, calamari, bread, salad two types of potato wedges and then 350g of stake 1.5 pounds of meat. And that was the small one. I got photos I will show you.
During dinner the waitress grabbed the oysters and dumped the plate down my back. Oyster shower! So I smelled like BBQ oyster the rest of the night. She apologized several times, "Sorry mate are you OK?" Like it was some heavy object that fell on me. I kept restating that it was OK 5 or six times before she let it go. I joked it off telling my fellow chaps that for afternoon tea I was going to wear the same clothes during our nibbblie session.
They dont believe in soda here. It's very hard to get at local places. And worse you pay $4.50 per glass.

Oh by the way the water in the sink does go down counter clock wise!!!

Gooday from Ted

Incase anyone wants to know how Ted is doing.. here is an email he sent me yesterday.

I slept well crashed about 5pm woke up at 7:30 ate, went back to sleep until 7:30am. I didn't do much yesterday walked through all the shops they remind me of jobbers odd lot. not much there. I will see if I can get downtown one of these nights and see the sites. It's raining and windy here about 25mph and cold 45. So it's not the time of year to vacation here.
OK a few stories on one of my plane transfers we had to take a bus ride from one terminal to the other. The bus driver for some reason couldn't see the 737. The bus was packed standing room only. The driver locked up the brakes and everyone standing was slung forward like rag dolls. I put my arms out to try and save this asian girl from getting squished by the stack of old blotes behind her with not much luck. She was berried under a sea of geriatrics.
I thought pizza would be safe to eat so I went to a restaurant and got "take away" (not "to go" -I got corrected) anyhow. I went back to my room to eat it. I was eating in the dark while enjoying some telli. I took a slice and started eating it. as I bit into it, the pizza was very good then a salty and a chewy substance was in my mouth. I was thinking that was weird. But I continued on. (I was very hungry) I bit into a second and a third bite the taste was so different I had to investigate so I turned the lights on and examined my weird quizen. I picked off a piece of the mystery meat and examined it, I found hairs protruding from the substance!! I found out later that it was anchovies. I was thinking kangaroo, or something that was not slaughtered well. But it was not bad in the end.
I was up at 3:00am couldn't sleep. So I watched golf, ordered breakfast and had some king size bacon and a side of ham dripping with fat.

Another Lesson Learned

Daesha in her matter of fact voice.
"Mom, did you know that faith and obedience give us power."
"It does? What kind of power?"
"Faith and obedience come and go into our TV and then it works"

Later Mate!

This week Ted is in Australia. Poor guy had to take a 14 hour flight that left at 7 p.m. yesterday. Ted didn't go to work yesterday and we were able to spend some time together before he left. We went and did a couples massage. I can't believe forgot my camera! Ted looked pretty funny in his white robe and slippers. It was Ted's first time and he said it was nice. It took him a long time to give it a try. This was a perfect camera moment.. Him getting his feet soaked in rose pedals! It just looked so funny with his big feet barely fitting in the tub. Anyway, usually a week away isn't that big of a deal because he does this about every month. But this is different for some reason. Maybe it's because he is so far away or maybe it's because I wish we were there with him. But I really miss him already and it hasn't even been a whole day. I have my week all planned out to keep us busy and I even hired my neice to come and spend the last couple days with us and she can entertain the kids while I run and do some things ALONE. I am emailing him everyday. Those who know me really well know that I like to do fun things to Ted when he comes home or while he is away. If you know our history you will know these wont be everyday emails. If you are dying to know what I did and know what you are getting into. call me.

Tag!? Was I playing TAG???

Crap! I knew I should have done this a couple weeks ago when I first got tagged by Shauna but I got too busy. Then I got tagged again by Julie. So enjoy this little peek into my house... by the way who the heck came up with this? Someone who wants to see if we have anything worth stealing??? Well we certainly dont. So here it goes..

The Rules:NO CLEANING/CHEATING What you see is the real thing!

#1-The Refrigerator: The clear bag on the very bottom is corn on the cob. I think it is turning black!! Maybe I should take those out...

#2-the Kitchen Sink: Most of you are surprised! Yes there ARE dishes in the sink!!

#3-the Toilet: I have 3 toilets. I easily could have taken a picture of the one used the least but nope I used the one used the most. And this week it's used the most by me. I bet you can see why!

#4-My bed:

#5-Self Portrait:No self timer here. just the good ol' arm stretched out maneuver.

#6-My favorite shoes: Prefer barefeet! But if I had to choose it would definately be my brown flipflops. Still dirty from camping this last weekend.

#7-What my kids are doing right now: Daesha is playing with friends in the back yard.
Keegan is yelling "mama" in his bed. Just got done with a nap that just wasn't long enough.

#8-My closet:

#9-My favorite room in the house: My favorite room is my bedroom because I can relax there. but since that was already on the list of pictures to take I chose my computer desk/scrapbooking room.

#10-Someplace I'd like to go on vacation: Europe! I want to see it ALL! The castles the museums and cathedrals the coast line, a real tuscany village, windmills, the lush green hills of Scotland. I could go on and on. Here are some pictures of places I would like to see..

Now as the game goes I am to tag someone else. I really hate to chase after people. so I am leaving it up in the air and letting someone "volunteer" to be it.

By the way it was pretty fun doing this tag.
